Ghatside Barber

Near Dasashwamedh Ghat. Benares.

(Of all the Benares photos, this is probably my favourite.)

Neither! But really its my fault for choosing weird pseudonyms and having all manner of bizarre interests.

man, we're shadowing each other: I have a pic of the same barber shop! (I was there in March, was staying in one of the galees adjacent to the Vishvanath Galee). Great pics btw...

Ha! We really are. Thanks for the link - I ended up going through all the photos there and am as always rueing missed photo ops. I was staying quite outside the ghat/ gali area at Jnana Pravaha, which was really rather lovely, directly opposite the Ramnagar Fort.

Now that's what I am talking about. What a shot. (and what a place!)

thanks KM. Totally agree about the place -despite all the drawbacks - it's very much in and of itself, which is becoming rare, when most towns and cities are becoming the same mass of malls and so on. I am half tempted to go back in September during the Ramlila season, but I was told off by my mother for even just floating that idea. Too much vagabonding and all.
