Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.
??!: you are here after ages! And I should tell you that many, many green doors were shot.
km: oh god, I utterly loved it too. Of course, I won't even fool myself into thinking that it is a liveable city - it rained one day while I was there and the roads, which where there i.e., disappeared into a large slush pit. The first day I visited BHU there was a huge group of BSP people roaming around all of them carrying these enormous rifles, looking completely scary and a couple of hours after I spoke to the ADM he was beaten up by a Samata Party MLA who barged into his office and then went absconding. And it was sravan, so the whole town was held hostage by the kavariyas, who are really hooligans.
But all that said, I still loved it and I really don't think I had enough time in the city and I really, really would love to go back - I did explore the city a fair bit and we walked a lot but a lot of my time was also spent with people, old friends of my grandmother's, who I don't get to meet very often but who are really wonderful and knowledgeable and that was also part of the charm of being there.
Though to take more pictures is reason enough to go back - my photos, I realised, are very ghat centred. Though there are some cliched ones of the galis - I'll be putting them up. Benares has totally sidelined my South India photos, but I think those can wait anyway.
