v.beautiful, reminds me of my trip to the same places you mention in your comment, alongwith dharwad, halebid and belgaum. Pity there were no digicams in use then! methinks its time to make this trip again.

I was wondering if a lower depth of field would have improved the composition. But I think not.

In the picture, the bark of the gnarled tree actually gives the impression it is made of the same stone used in the making of those grand temples. Total harmony.

Great shot.

Forget the tree; what a sky!

bidi-k: Oh, we didn't make it to those places and I really wanted to visit Bijapur too. Another trip has to be made.

km: Thanks. I can't say I even tried the lower depth of field picture - I was basically working with manual mode on this trip and had my restrictions often in figuring it out. Though I did take the picture squatting very low so that I would get the unevenness of the stones of the ground and that particular angle of the tree.

lucas: yes! the monsoon skies were brilliant!

thanks so much, qalandar.

I've been looking for pictures of this tree (and have found many). this is one of the better ones I've seen.
